Where my head has been

My days are filled with phone calls to banks and lawyers and surveyors and real estate agents. Trying to buy a house gets more complicated with every turn. It seems to be hassle after hassle. It’s strange – the house itself no longer even seems real – it’s all about negotiations and trying not to get too emotionally attached as there is a high chance that we will miss out on this one. I am longing to get back to all the things that make me tick and not make my stomach churn or make me break out in stress rashes.

I think stress comes with housebuying. You can not get attatched until you have keys in hand. Nothing belongs to you until then. Just stay positive and take it all in stride.

  2. Hang in there — it’s an arduous process, for sure, but the whole rhythm of the universe thing seems to hate it when you fight it. The perfect house will be there soon enough, and you’ll end up knowing WAY MORE than you EVER wanted to know about the process, too. (Just got done with one of those a few years back, myself, and now I’m doing it -again-, which is kind of like voluntarily running your tongue over a cheese grater sometimes, but we do what we must.)

  3. Those phone calls and negotiations are but for a fleeting moment! You won’t have to do any more stranger-talking after you get the house. I.E.; while you’re cozy nesting in your new living room couch! Hang in there!

  4. Buying our house was one of the most stressful experiences ever. I had to just remember that we would only be going through the stress for a few weeks, and then it would be over. I went through a big heartbreak moment when the seller rejected our FULL PRICE offer and decided to re-list for $30K more. Because I am very polite I call her “Greedy, Mean Lady” and not a lot of other words that came to mind at the time. Anyway, we went up a bit, she came down a bit, and our little dream house has been ours for two years now, and I hardly remember the stress. It was totally worth it!
Just remember-the stress is only temporary, and you will get the house that is meant for you!

  5. I know how hard buying a house can be…even shopping for a house makes me feel sick because I always end up falling in love with one and find out I can’t have it. Good luck to you, and I hope it is all done soon and you will be in your new home 😀 ((HUGS))

  6. I’m sorry you’re having a rough time. The rough search will be worth it in the end, even if the house isn’t exactly what you expected. I think that Lu pretty much summed it up, though 🙂
I must admit that I haven’t gotten past the first page of your site, but your blog is beautiful and you are super talented. Have you ever thought about writing/illustrating children’s books?

    Take care.

  7. I am going through the exact same thing. No one tells you how stressful house buying can be! We just had our inspection yesterday. 3 pages of “problems” later, we still want the house and can completely see ourselves in it. Hope everything goes well and breathe deeply!

    Just remember one thing:
What’s meant for you won’t go by you.

If you don’t get this house, then maybe THE right house is out there waiting for you.

    Keep smiling!

hi all, first time at your blog and i felt compelled to:
    1. agree with the previous comment about your site’s beautiful design

    2. pass on the mantra that got us through our home buying: mine mine mine, one day it will be mine

    and

    3. commend the previous poster on calling her crazy seller ‘mean lady’ our crazy seller’s nickname included many expletives and was deinifely not child-friendly 🙂

hang in there. one day you wont be paying rent anymore and it will all be yours!
    best,
