Liking mail
A while ago I received an unexpected and totally delightful package in the mail from Michelle – I have been unpacking and repacking the box ever since, turning the little packets of vintage buttons over in my hands and marveling at the amazing yarn.
The little tag she wrote said “Some doll making goodies”. It seems a shame to use the noro yarn for doll making but then again I can already imagine a funny little poppet with wild coloured hair a little like Rosa does. Thank you Michelle!
Speaking of gifts, here are a couple of my Christmas gifts. With some heavy hinting, Big-P and Grandma G bought me some antique buttons. I have no idea what I will use them for buy I think they’re so interesting. The first lot – as the card says – are bakelite and the second lot are celluloid.
Ooh ahhh! Just look at that wool! Divine! You could make a bear or bunny with that yarn from your Debbie Bliss Toys book that seems to have taken up residence in my knitting shelf… Let me know if you want to use it!

I love vintage buttons! My Grandma used to be a professional seamstress, and years later she still had a biscuit tin full of old buttons. Some were definately bakelite, and many where big heavy coat buttons. I loved to play with them as a kid, and unfortunately I’m not sure where they went after she died. Fond memory.

I’ve found Noro of all sorts and colours makes incredibly gorgeous and decadent dolls cardigans…the stitch definition is great for looking at in small pieces 🙂
