“Say Ahh Like Totoro!”

totoroaah
We were at the dentists from 10am until 12.30 yesterday. We always go down for a all-family regular check-up as the dentist is on the other side of town and it’s good to get it out of the way all in one morning. One after another, mouths open like Totoro, teeth cleaned, lectures given on the necessities of flossing. While I was in the waiting room entertaining the wee kidlets after their check-ups various other patients came and went. Some didn’t appreciate the noise two small people in a tiny room make, others didn’t mind at all, and some even contributed to it.

Towards the end of the visit, a woman and her small son came in to wait for their appointment, and I still really don’t know why, but I sort of felt like I knew this woman, or had seen her, or she’d been at school with me, perhaps a year ahead or behind me.

So I asked (as you do). But no, she hadn’t gone to my school.

And then weirdly enough she asked me if I was into crafty stuff. And I had to say yes (as you do). And then she asked me if I was into blogging. Which was something I also had to say yes to. And she asked me who I was and I asked her who she was and it was Patch Andi! Ha! She went out to her car and got the quilt she is currently working on and we chatted about craft, and fabric shops and blogs. It was very pleasant.

I have never met her or even seen her before, yet I am amazed that I seemed to just recognise a kind of kindred spirit the moment she walked into the waiting room. BIZARRE-O. Hello Andi and Jake! Perhaps I’ll see you around the traps again one day.

Ain’t the internet grand?

everyday_miniDay Two: Still novelling. Got up later than yesterday – felt pretty sluggish but bashed away regardless. Drank a cup of Lipton’s chai. Avoided Twitter. Wrote 500 words but then found a paragraph repeated so had to delete 600 or so words.

What an exciting experience. It really feels like the world is getting bigger and smaller all at the same time.By the way, Totoro is one of m all time favourite movies. We bought it on VHS before we had kiddies and the eldest is now 10. Love the Catbus.
