R.I.P. Richard Briers

Veteran British actor Richard Briers dies aged 79.

I was sad to wake up and read this on Twitter this morning. Briers seems like he was a wonderful man. One of my all time favourite shows is The Good Life (known as Good Neighbours in North America, I think). I watched it as a kid, and I am sure Tom and Barbara’s life choices have had a resounding effect on me. If you haven’t had a chance to see it yet, it’s really worth making the effort to track it down. I think you can find it on Netflix and Amazon UK.

How sad! It was such a great character and I can only but feel he was somewhat similar in real life. I wish that kind of telly was what my kids would (could only) watch instead of the made-for-kids sitcoms that we can’t escape (if you own a TV).

I love this show, too. I own every episode on DVD. I put one on when I’m having a bad day and it always cheers me up!

    Oh no. 🙁
The Good Life is one of my favourites too. Since forcing my partner to watch it too we’ve decided to one day try to be self sufficient just like Tom and Barbara.

So sad! This was a family favorite growing up. Now I have to find it and watch it all over again to remember Tom’s seemingly unending patience with those he loved.
