Drawing 22 of 365 – Work in Progress

Today’s drawing is a snippet from a work in progress. I am working on a series of illustrations based around kids and their imaginary friends.

This is the beginning of a portrait of Lily and her pantheon of made-up buddies with names such as Leila and Fishy Crackers, Crunch & Punch (the crime fighting twins), Drain and Leaf. Next up will be Amelia and her imaginary friend Arkala who she created when she was two and has been a stalwart attendee of tea parties and dress up games until only very recently. Perhaps I will also do an illustration of my brother, c. 1979 with his BMX riding imaginary bestie, Jonnas, and maybe a self portrait of my own mid-seventies, holly-hobby style imaginary friend, Kitty.

Hi Claire – the site looks great. This is a comment from my laptop – Windows XP and IE8. Let me know if it comes through OK. I’ll try it shortly on my iPhone too. I have a few (minor) comments about layout, but I’ll put those together as an email. Well done! Dad.

  3. Oh dear! Somehow my RSS reader was no longer subscribing to your feeds and I’ve missed all the way back to here! I’ll have to do some catching up.My daughter had Green Bean and Chocolate for friends a couple years ago. They still reappear every so often.
