Thursday sketchin’

I have exciting sketchy things in the works but, as the way things are with these things, I am waiting to sign contracts so I can’t really share much yet, BUT I can share this potato.

One of my favourite places on this island is Auntie Pesto’s cafe — where you might find me eating breakfast (or lunch or dinner) quite often.

I love the Pesto’s breakfast potatoes almost as much as I love the bacon. And that’s saying something, because if the menu offered “Plate of Bacon” I would order that every day (and I am almost serious).

songsfortheday is my most visited blog these days. I blame Adam entirely for me clocking up a large bandcamp/itunes bill. Bad – but good.

And of course, don’t forget Jordan Stratford’s Wollstonecraft kickstarter! I am so excited to be spending some time illustrating these books.

I love the new design! I don’t know if it’s been like this for ages and my computer at home hasn’t reloaded the whole site, but in any case, I just noticed (sneeking a peak at work, sssshhh), and I love it.I’ve just joined a beginners graphic design course and we’re on illustration at the moment. It’s really pushing boundaries for me, but when I look at websites like yours, I’m reminded of why I want to learn more and push myself outside of my comfort zone with this. It’s a lot of trial and error and frustrated perfectionism, but you’ve just reminded me there’s a point to it all. Thank you!

Too funny! My husband and his parents once owned ‘Auntie Pestos’ in the days when it was ‘Bouzouki Greek Cafe’…it’s where this former travelling Aussie met the love of her life one winter sitting at one of those tables in the window….within a year, I was living on Salt Spring and it took a great deal to make us leave some years later…Wow, nice to see what they’ve done with the place…have you been lucky enough to watch harbour seals from the outdoor seating area? It was a favourite pass-time of ours way back!
