My week in pictures. There were wild winds and sick kids.

Aah Friday… In exactly two minutes I am picking up the phone and ordering Mushroom Mutter, naan bread and some kind of crazy deep fried chicken (pakora?). I will also be encouraging the girls to turn off the tv and will be switching on the radio to listen to Classic Drive with Julia Lester because I like Julia and her music programmer. Tonight I am ducking around the corner for some classy drinks with the girls and then tomorrow I am leaping up to go to the market to buy my usuals (celeriac? feta? cos lettuce hearts? these things seem to make it into my bag every week).

this weekend I am also going to be

– making chicken pie for friends
– visiting the flea market
– painting some window frames
– trying not to think about gorgeous mid century furniture I spied with Kirsty in Fitzroy today
– pulling up weeds
– picking up a copy of Jane Eyre
– putting together a costume for a school performance
– starting a design for an embroidered cushion for Amelia’s birthday
– pulling out that old prickly pear pattern and making it into something that others might like to buy (hello 2005!)
– taking the girls to Ponyo
– and some more!

What are you up?

I am totally envious of your Digger’s catalogue. A cup of tea and daydreams of potential garden layouts is so satisfying!

I’ve already spent up big at Diggers, so I’ll be resisting the tempation to plant lots of seeds too early and moving lots and lots of compost.

I love Jane Eyre, but I had such a huge pile of books waiting to be read that I downloaded an audiobook Jane Eyre and listened to it instead. Every bit as good!

i’ll be recovering from mowing the lawn at 8.30 this morning, and enjoying the raindrops falling on the roof and trying not to be grumpy about the lack of everything to do in a country town and instead smiling at the blossom tree and maybe cooking some apple crumble to make us all smile. and i wish i could come see ponyo with you…my sister just told me how cool it is.

After spending a lazy morning reading my favourite blogs, while drinking tea and eating toast, I’m going to go to Spotlight to buy a few embroidery things so I can start my first! ever! embroidery project. I know of four – wait, no I found out last night, five! – newly pregnant couples in my social circle, so if I successfully make one Starry Serenade pillow, I’m going to make another four and give them to my friends.Loobylu, I’m so glad you posted that pattern, I love it!

Then I’m going to go to the costume store to secure a flapper and a dandy outfit for my husband’s birthday party in a few weeks, then go to dinner with friends tonight.

Tomorrow will be more tea and toast, potting some African Violets so they grow nice and pretty and can be given for Christmas presents, trying a new tagine recipe and, hopefully, I’ll finish re-reading Julie & Julia. Not sure what book I’ll move on to yet, but something will jump out at me.xx

I love your week in picture! It’s a bank holiday weekend here in the UK (cue rain) So I’ll begoing on a train

visiting the family friendly exhibition “What are you like?” at Manchester City art gallery with the kids (mainly to swoon over Oliver Jeffers, Lauren Child and Shirley Hughes book illustrations on display!)

having noodles & crispy sea weed in china town

shopping at Paperchase flagship store (heaven) & H&M for kids clothes

reading picture books to the kids whilst lying in and husband brings cuppa tea ( thats the plan anyways)

    planning a screen print

sewing a cloud onto Sky’s jeans

    making Yorkshire pudding

drinking wine at the local beer festival (I don’t like beer, makes all the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!)

walking, talking, tidying, washing, dreaming and all that good stuff.

Hope you have fun at the flea market, and i love your week in pictures!:)

Well, the weekend is over, but I spent much of it making a “Snugglepot and Cuddlepie” dollhouse with my daughter. Totally fun, totally silly…perfect. As I am not Australian, I do so very much hope that we have not gotten it too, too wrong. See it here, if you like:http://sweetsweetlife.typepad.com/sweet_sweet_life/2009/08/good-root.html

    Have a lovely, lovely week!
