Photos from top to bottom:

My computer is broken.

I am making granny squares but not every day.

Our house is full of flowers.

I made a pie.

The image on the broken computer reminds me of a polish weaving.

I am slowly (very slowly) making a crochet rug to to curl under when reading on the couch.

Gerberas are my girls’ favourite flowers and they are in season so why not?

The pie was filled with chicken, leeks & mushrooms in a white sauce.

Phil managed to save everything I needed from the broken computer including photos from the last 6 years – there were some very tense moments when I thought we might have lost everything.

Granny squares make me happy like nobody’s business and I know it is because of the granny square rugs seen in childhood – there are three I can remember made by great grandmother.

One of our guests on Sunday told a story about a funeral she had been to recently where the attendees threw gerberas onto the coffin. She mispronounced it gerbils which made it a very funny story rather than a slightly sad one.

The kids liked the pie and it was such an enormous pie that we are having it again tomorrow night – I doubt the kids will eat it a second time as they tend towards randomness when it comes to food. Hmm, maybe that means they *will* eat it.

Computer screen pattern – five minutes
Crochet rug – three generations?
Gerberas – four days
Pie – two nights

Did you use the Stephie A recipe? I made that pie once and still remember it. Yummo.Isn’t it good having a computer expect in the house? I think that is how I sleep soundly at night!

I really enjoy your blog. I wish I knew how to make granny squares – they look lovely. I just taught myself with much effort how to knit but am still in the practicing stage. I long to make myself a knitted blanket, socks or mittens. I need to learn how to crochet. Do you think that is easier or harder than knitting?

That is my all time favourite kind of pie, it looks delicious. I must learn to crochet properly, I’m drawn to granny squares although I have no idea how to make them. x

A lesson we learned the hard way! Always have a backup of your photos! In fact, we put them on a cd and bring it to my mother’s..in case anything ever happens to our house!

Were you thinking Boosh when you wrote “Pieeee!!” on there? : ) Oh and can you teach me to make Granny squares for my Birthday?

  7. Claire says:

Hahh yes! Perhaps I should call it “Boosh Pie”, but wow that sounds rude.

At first I thought the computer screen photo was a beautifully intricate quilt. Bummer about the broken computer but at least it had the good taste to break in a pretty way. (Phew that you saved the photos!)My kids are random eaters, too… perhaps some magic pie is in order. It sounds delicious. 🙂

  10. If that’s a Mac you’re using, it could be the logic board that’s died – and some models have a replacement program in place….. I had the same thing on my old iBook, and they fixed it for free!Have a squiz on the apple website before you do anything drastic!

Are you Granny-a-day-ing along with Pip perhaps? Must learn to crochet really – there’s a big skills gap there waiting to be filled….

That computer-screen pattern is the same as that used for the seat covers on the London Underground and London Buses!

Woah woah woah. The construction of this entry is really, really captivating. It almost took my breath away, and I hardly EVER say that. Really creative brain you’ve got there, lady. This rocks.
