Home again
Hello!
We arrived home yesterday from our lovely Canadian holiday. We spent time on the shores of Lake Huron and it was unbelievably beautiful and lush and dream-like. Both girls had a ball – we were extremely spoilt by good family, good weather, good food (I have never seen such huge and cheap containers of blueberries… and need a tub of wild strawberries? Just step out into the yard!) and comfortable beds (so important for the making or the breaking of a holiday, don’t you think?). Now I am already imagining our 2013 Trans-Canadian mega-holiday… Vancouver to Prince Edward Island. Maybe we’ll even find some gorgeous place to set up home along the way. I do like to dream.
awwww love this site and the cute dolls!
Wonderful photos… I’d die for a tub of wild strawberries right now…
Mmmm … Canadian blueberries and summer sunshine. That would have been the most beautiful holiday. Keep planning that mega-holiday. Further east is gorgeous too!
Welcome home Claire. I missed you! It looks like you all had a wonderful holiday.
What beautiful photos of your holiday and those wild strawberries look divine!
Welcome back! Looks like you had a beautiful time for your visit.
Lovely! I’m glad you enjoyed your trip over the ‘pond’ & I bet your hubby was equally pleased to make a trip back to his Canadian home.
A trans-Canadian road trip? We’ve done it!! Well, most of it! We’ve driven 4,000 of the 7,800 kms. Definitely something the children will remember – as well as your backsides.
Glad to have you back!
Welcome back Miss Comfy-Bed-Lovin-Berry-Pickin-Lake-liking-Looby-Lu! I’m so glad you are home safe, sound and rested too!
What lovely photos! I want to spend my life at the water’s edge with charming babies in bonnets with plenty of berries to boot.Summer here is quite stifling. Near 100 degrees farenhait every day.Well, I think I speak for a lot when I say we missed you.
Let’s create. 🙂
I’m so happy you had a wonderful vacation! I have always wanted to go to Prince Edward Island… ever since seeing the Anne of Green Gables movie and reading the books. Oh my! I spent 6 weeks on Lake Huron in 2006… the Michigan side :o) Sarnia, Canada was right across the way. We could see people on the beach from the US side. So beautiful :o) I loved it and would love to go back. Take care & have a lovely weekend!xox,Linnea
Happy you’re back. Looks like you had a fanatastic time, and everything looks so pretty!
Hi from a lurker, here! So glad to see you back (in general, not just now).I love Canada — can’t wait to go to Prince Edward Island this August for the first time, it’s the 100th anniversary of Anne of Green Gables!
Those berries look amazing.
I miss the shores of Lake Huron. We used to stop there and splash every summer on the way to visit my grandparents when I was young. Thanks for putting up pictures. 🙂
Welcome home! I had similar dreamy feelings during my summer trip to the U.S. Berris galore.
ooo yes. Prince Edward Island!!!(Another Anne fan.)Glad you had such a glorious time. That long dress, hat and bright green bucket ALMOST makes me wish for a little girl again. (No! NO! Stop it!!!!)
Please, Claire, share what city/town you stayed in! That area of the world is quite familiar to me and I’m dying to know.
Canadian blueberries are enough to make me want to live there again! Australian ones are just way too expensive…
I’ve just got home from a Montreal (via PEI and Toronto) to Vancouver trip, and am already planning when to return.I highly recommend http://www.victoriavillageinn.com/ The beds are comfy, the food is sensational, the people amazing and the village is very reminiscent of Avonlea.
Welcome home.
So happy to visit your blog again. And how funny! Such a small world. I have gone to our cottage at Southampton on Lake Huron every summer of my 37 years. Truly a beautiful summer place. And yes, you should move to Canada. hehehe!
Oh that sounds as if it was a wonderful vacation. You pics look like a photoshoot. I keep wondering if I can talk dh into driving up to PEI. He has Gaspe in mind now so…(btw, I have a postcard swap partner and am wondering if You are She?!??!)
Welcome home! How lovely to spend a few weeks in Canada–I’m glad you had a wonderful time!
So nice to see you back in Australia, but I’d love love love to see Loobylu representing Canada in the near future! We’ve got creative people all over, but as many ex-pats of Canada, we need to get the creative people back to the North [myself included!]Glad you have a lovely holiday, the girls look adorable and the strawberries look delicious.
Looking forward to seeing more! I used to be a faithful Loobylu-ite. Loobyluny. Looby… follower, then you went on hiatus and it was terribly sad and I just happened upon you again just as you’d left for your winter holiday! So, cheers, welcome home and all the best.
xx finch
Delurking to say – you were on my beach!!I may be mistaken but that log has been floating around the shore of Sauble for quite a while. It moves every spring.
I hope you had a wonderful time. We are sitting just back on 2nd ave now about to have bedtime after a sunset swim and a beautiful day.
Please do continue to wander, we save up for a big trip every other year. Last year a week with friends in a beautiful house in Normandy, then Paris – which is wonderful for small children. Next year a return to family roots in Scotland. Travel with small children has challenges but also big rewards. I applaud your decision of travel over reno.

Hmmm — if you are planning a Trans-Canadian holiday, please don’t end it in PEI. Canada goes to Newfoundland and Labrador (not Vancouver to Halifax as so many say!) and it is just gorgeous. There are mountains, whales, icebergs, incredible seascapes and if berries you like, have some blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, bakeapples, and partridgeberries. Pink
PEI is gorgeous!!!! We have camped on Cavendish Beach twice and enjoyed the island.
