Etsy angst
Last night I had a crazy dream where I discovered Matt Damon was a loobylu reader (and why shouldn’t he be?) and he had a daddy-blog at gracious.blogspot.com. I went and had a look there this morning secretly hoping to see the beautiful photos that Matt had included in my dream of his family running on the beach and some of their beach-related crafts… but no… nothing Matt Damon related at that url. How disappointing! Imagine if Matt Damon was secretly a daddy/craft blogger? However, it did occur to me upon waking that things are weird (and possibly a little out of proportion) when you dream about blogging. Especially when it involves a celebrity.
So here’s my most recent gocco print called “Hulahoop, Skipping Rope” which I am planning to list on etsy next week as my first foray into etsy selling. I have to find some light yet sturdy envelopes (does anyone know where I can buy Jiffy Rigi Bags #4 in Melbourne?) and work out the postage issues. I’m a little nervous but when I look at Emily and her 13,600+ sales I think I might be being a little pathetic. (13,600 ??? How exhausting! Poor girl! We need to send her a care package!). I had better get back to our Saturday — I have stock on the stove and it sounds like the kids are getting a bit wild.
Any of the paper merchants can help – but only if you’re buying in bulk – otherwise they won’t want to know. Amcor Packaging in Fairfield is probably your best bet.Good Luck !
Is it sad that I have been checking back here every few months hoping that you would blog again? Awesome print making by the way.
I too had a very vivid dream about Matt Damon once, and I’ve had a little bit of a thing for him ever since. Wierd, huh? I was just at a cute little toy store today and spotted the Klutz Little Letters book and knew immediately who illustrated it! Really darling. You’ll do great on Etsy!
A Loobylu etsy shop! How exciting! You’ll do really well – I know it. 🙂
Can’t wait to see your etsy store, and hopefully pick something up for myself! (There you go, a customer already). So glad to read your blog once again, you’ve been sorely missed!
No fear, I’ve dreamt about hanging out with my favorite vloggers (youtube.com/vlogbrothers) and doing stupid, run of the mill things with them (like running errands?) on more than one occasion. One of my friends is obsessed with Black Apple. With my impending mommy-hood in September and this huge fear over what I’m going to do to contribute to our family’s bottom line without working outside of the home…I think just staring at Black Apple for a really long time is helpful. It bolsters me. It convinces me that I, too, with a little bit of self-motivation, can run a successful Etsy shop that is ridiculously profitable.I just need to get my sewing/craft room in order. First thing is first.
Matt Damon AND blogging in all one dream – that just sounds perfect to me.Good luck with the Etsy shop too – it’s not as scary as you might think :o)
Mondax
Don’t be nervous, I can’t wait to buy one! And here I was just raving about your orange inspirations for Lily’s room!
I understand the celebrity “OMG”. I was told Pat Conroy had read my blog. I felt like my english professor was reading my term paper with a big red pen.I would have like the idea of a handsome celebrity more.
What kind of stock? Whatcha cook up off paper?
good luck with opening your etsy shop!! i think you’ll do extremely well! i’ll definitely be waiting in line to buy a print! really really love your hulahoop print!i just opened my shop a few weeks ago and it was really terrifying. but at the same time, it really felt good! i figured even if no one bought anything, it was still an accomplishment! 🙂
Claire! You’re back! I have checked back periodically and lo and behold here you are with a bunch of fresh posts! Such a treat. I’m definitely adding you to my blogroll. Best, Mark

I wonder if Emily is Etsy’s biggest seller?? Does anyone know??
The print looks lovely! You can get some super sturdy envelopes from Officeworks for sending artworks. I’ve never seen anything like them before and are made by a company called red back envelopes. I also look on Ebay sometimes in the Business/Industrial -> Packaging section. They sometimes have bulk lots of items (50-100) for a good price.
I can’t beleive I only just discovered you are back! Thanks Allosrts for pointing it out to those silly enough to delete the link about 2 months ago because we (I) thought you may never come back! You introduced me to blogs just before you left, and now I am a mad fan! And thrilled to see your return…so a big belated YAY from me!
Hi Claire,You posted another multi-colored print before(I think it was your first) of a sweet girl’s face surrounded by leaves. I hope you will be selling that on Etsy too.
How wonderful that you are taking the plunge. I’m gearing up for it myself, and yes, was inspired and fortified to the task by seeing Emily of BlackApple on (ahem) Martha Stewart that I…er… happened to be watching. I’m still smirking about the way Emily told Martha off for bowing to her daughter, Alex’s whims, and telling her she had to “revist a contract” she had made with her daughter many years ago. You could tell Martha was taken aback to be given such stern advice from a person making cloth dolls on her (almost live) tv show. I digress…Good luck with the Etsy shop. I have my finger poised over the Etsy favourite button in anticipation. It’ll be great. You have an army of customers already….(see above)!!!!
of course i read your blog!
oooo, love it, love it! you are now one of my etsy “favorites.” I will be anxiously awaiting your the posting of your prints. Best of luck!
