December’s a-cooking
Hot hot hot. Phew. Hanging out for the cool change tomorrow so I can feel human again. We started our advent activity calendar this evening so we are all walking around with brightly coloured toe nails. I have reassured Phil that we have remover so that he can be back to normal for his Yoga class next week.
So December is here which means that November’s Month of Softies theme (“This guy is an accessory”) is over. Please don’t panic if you are yet to finish your contribution as the gallery never closes so keep stitching and upload your photos when you are done. Here you can see all the wonderful softy-accessories so far. And if your contribution isn’t showing up, there are a few reasons why it might be so to be found here.
Now here’s the fun part. Does anyone have a suggestion for a new theme for December? I have officially run out of steam. It’s probably the heat. It could be that I am preoccupied. This time last year we had “Holiday Hang-Ups” which were just beautiful. I think it’s a good idea to have a holiday theme of some sort because everyone tends to be so busy with this kind of thing at the moment anyway, so throw me some suggestions and I’ll settle on an idea by the weekend (my time). Thanks!
How about elves and fairies? That could be interpreted as holiday-oriented… or not.
What about something like “under the tree” I can see softie presents, the gift wrapped versions or actual presents or taking a more natural view woodland animals and plants…
i think the theme could be “a softie santa”. i always loved santa and there are a lot of faces and looks to make.i really love those three!!!
The ornaments from last year were really wonderful. Maybe you could repeat the ornament theme but make it specific like a favorite treat- Tree Treats-(gingerbread, candycane, sugar cookie.)
hmmm… a soft Christmas Feast?
Squidgey xmas decorations? (not necessarily tree ornaments)
I’m delurking! And I have a suggestion (how exciting for me!)How about “There’s No Business Like Snow Business.” It seems like that would provide some latitude. It could be snowmen or snowflakes or trees covered in snow or something like that!

what about a more general “winter wonderland” theme? it’s seasonal without being attached to a holiday – so santa can share space with polar bears, penguins, and so on.
I too, am “de-lurking”, what about Christmas table items. Like bonbons or little plum puddings or crayfish for those in the southern hemisphere. Can’t wait to see what you all come up with!
What about the Christmas Bug? We have all been bitten!
What about a “Home grown Christmas” theme. Making a softie that represents what christmas is like in your part of the world. I read all these “snow” & “winter wonderland” themes, but that’s not what christmas is about everywhere. As you would know, here we are preparing to eat a big roast dinner on a 40degree day. no snow to be seen! :o)
what christmas means to you. seems like a good idea – could be the season, could be about children and gifts, could be about santa and all that or it could be about religion.
I’m not sure what this theme would be called but what about reinventing the traditional star/angel on top of the tree?
How does an oversized plushy prawn sound? :]
Well this is going to be my first time participating. How about Winter Wonderland in White. It would be interesting to see what everyone could do if we all had to work in just shades of white. Or maybe a peace theam…can’t really think of how to make that work but I like the general idea. I prefer something not strictly Christmas related since some I’m sure there are people who would like to participate that don’t celebrate it.
As well as being some people who don’t celebrate Christmas, there are some of us for whom Christmas isn’t white and is in fact in midsummer! (not knocking those theme ideas, just pointing it out is all, as Australians may like a theme that embraces our Christmas experience as well).
How about Sharing and Caring? You can do lots with that and it captures the spirit of winter holidays. I am already thinking about what to do… crocheted hot-water-bottle covers!!!
“Home grown Christmas” – I LIKE that!
‘xmas season’ – to cater for the winter lovers, and us summer types.Or xmas elves – cos I love them.
