Turtle secrets

Those turtles are very cute – but I suddenly felt very guilty for asking for a scan of the pattern when I am a strong believer in the rights of artists and crafts people to protect their work. So this morning – thanks to pointers in yesterday’s comments – I bought the Aranzi pattern book (and a few other cute things – hmm) from aranziaronzo.com. Yvonne also pointed out that it’s available from Amazon Japan.

And really, how could I resist? I think I got the last one in stock.

Officially today is the last day of June here in Australia which means the last day of “June Bug” submissions for A Month of Softies – though as you probably know I very rarely turn back late submissions. I hope you will stick with me and forgive me my tardiness when it comes to putting up the galleries and still take part next month. Tomorrow I will be announcing the new theme which I have just this second come up with and I am truly excited by this one so tune in tomorrow.

  2. Huh. Aranzi Aronzo’s characters look quite a lot like the work of Dick Bruna, of Miffy (www.miffy.com) fame, to me. But perhaps it’s just because I feel a bit protective of his style, since he’s been around for 50 years now and lives around the corner from me 🙂

The plate is very very cute …. but does it come with a guarantee of making small girls eat all their dinner ?? If so, I must have two, and now !!

  4. Just as I was planning to make my June Bug, my sewingmachine had other plans… decided to have a breakdown. That means my June bug will be among the ones of the late submissions…

  5. O goody! I’ve been wanting to do one of the Month of Softies projects since you first started it but have been unwell. Now I am eager to see what next month’s will be so that I can try and submit on time. See you tomorrow!

yesasia.com also has a number of Aranzi books, but you need to know the ISBN as the site is in Japanese. They have lots of other great craft books as well, and shipping is free for orders of 39.00 or more

  9. Why do I think the July softies sounds like its going to be a challenge?

  12. Thanks for the link to the website. You’ve gotta love the statement at the bottom of the page for the book:Not all people can make the dolls well and easily, but the Nuigurumi you made must be the best in the world even if it looks strange a little.

  13. Will you let us now how shopping with aranzi online goes? I always drool over that website – but I’m a chicken about ordering things!!!

  14. You won’t be disappointed with that book! It was my first Japanese craft book, and I’ve made 3 patterns from it. I can’t wait to see your take on them!
