Back on the needles
Mum and Dad have set forth on a great caravan adventure leaving Amelia, Big-P and me here at home to play house for two weeks! It’s raining so heavily and the earth smells like patchouli oil which I once despised but since living here it now makes me think of rain and dripping green gardens.
This afternoon I drove over to Suzette’s and while Amelia and Jasmine toddled around showing each other various toys, we discovered that both of our next knitting projects happen to be Evie from the Rowan Junior book (such a good book!).
Evie was the project that my Grandma started but decided after a few rows it was going to be way too much for her to get through – 4ply on 3mm needles. Yikes! It may be too much for me! But Suzette suggested that we both do an Evie knit-along which I jumped at. I have all the yarn sitting there (Rowan 4ply soft) but I am so glad to have the motivating force of another – more experienced – knitter to help me start out and to keep me going with it. It seems a daunting task indeed. I have also just borrowed Suzette’s copy of Rowan’s Ribbon Twist Collection – which is full of gorgeous goodies.

Yeah! More knitting, I will cross my fingers for your new project. I love to read your journal! But… what happened to that bag? Is it finished yet? 🙂
are you knitting this in the round? it makes knitting these small gauge items so much easier! if the pattern doesn’t call for it, do it anyway cuz you won’t regret it.
4 ply can be daunting…I once knitted myself a short sleeved jumper with 4 ply on tiny needles and it did take a while, but it was worth it in the end. The result is so soft and lovely. This little Rowan jumper looks really cute and you’ll be finished it before you know it

I would love to get hold of their clothes for my daughter – if I had an ounce of talent I would even try to make it myself. My first project was (ehem, IS) a 4ply on 3mmm needles from the Rowan Babies book that one year on is still languishing unfinished at the bottom of the knitting bag! So I think doing it together is a brilliant way to keep you both motivated and inspired. In the meantime I’m sticking to small chunky projects.
