Tree'sup

Our tree is up. Amelia J loves it – she looks up at it and says “TA!”, and waves her hands above her head – which is her way of singing “twinkle twinkle little star”. She’s upstairs at the moment, in her cot – and she’s meant to be napping – but I can hear that there is a parrot in the gum tree outside her window snacking on some tasty blossom and it’s squawking and Amelia is saying “Hello! Hello!”. This weekend brings the first wave of family visitors for the first of many christmas celebratory meals. Next week it’s going to be a big ol’ mess of babies, dogs, wrapping paper and champagne corks. Almost all my shopping is done and I am now working on my new years resolutions — first one being to either do all my christmas shopping before December in 2004 or even more ambitiously – make all gifts. Gee, that sounds a little familiar.

  1. It blows my mind to think you like in a place with PARROTS in the trees (as opposed to, say, pigeons and trash bags).
And YIKES, has it really been a YEAR since I started making sock dogs? And I’m still not done…

  2. Awww Amelia sounds like such a cutie. And it does sound like you’re going to have a load of fun. Happy holidays hun!

  3. Sounds like you’re all in for a great time next week! Twinkle twinkle to baby Amelia!
Our little one has never seen a Christmas tree before (she’s 9 months old) but I guarantee that once it’s up, she’ll want to eat it.

  4. Wow, your Resolutions sound exactly like mine so far.I had such great intentions of making all my presents this year but it just didn’t happen. I’ve got lots of things half finished, so I think Father Christmas might accidentally mislay them until next year, and this year Amazon will be getting my business.

Hope you all have a great Christmas.

  12. Amelia J is the cutest little person. She is in my list of things that remind me of all the good that is left in this wicked world. Much like a hobbit?”TA!” was my first word, too. My parents never figured out what it was I was trying to say, and now I’m crossing my fingers hoping I was trying to say “star” too. While I cross my toes hoping I were as pretty as one.
