l'aventure grande

I am about to embark on a grand adventure. I am about to drive solo for the first time. Granted, I am just going to drive around the block and pick up my mum to take the car to get a baby seat installed, but if you’ll pardon my french, I am shitting myself.

  2. Just remember when driving…streets: Good
    pedestrians: Bad.

Don’t worry about shitting yourself…soon enough you’ll have someone to do that for you. : )

  3. you will be so glad you learnt to drive when baby-x arrives. There is nothing worse than being housebound with a baby 🙂

  4. I remember when I was sixteen and got to drive by myself for the first time.Just remember: Drive offensively and and pack a shotgun … Oh no wait, that’s a Mad Max movie.

You will be fine :)I was pretty scared myself, but it doesn’t take long to get used to it.

Especially driving in familiar areas. If you take it easy, other drivers will be mystified by your seemingly contradictory polite driving and ‘P’ plate status.

Hi there Claire, just to let you know, having your labor induced or C-section is not so bad(thank heaven for epidurals)- just a lot of tugging and then, total bliss when your baby is finally in your arms!Good Luck with driving!

  8. I’m with Brad. You can do it!

  9. I DID IT! now I need to go and have a nap…

  10. Hehe, I completely empathize with you -I think I’m even afraid to get my learner’s permit, and that doesn’t involve any driving! 😉

reading baby x-blog, i’m getting soooooooooooooooo excited for you. i actually came here because i was thinking ‘she’s had the baby’. my psychic wires must have been crossed.

that brings me to a point – how will we know. perhaps the midwife could knock out a loobylu blog entry?

    🙂

  12. Good for you, Claire! You did it! I thought you could!

I’ve been driving by myself for the last couple of days and I’m still panicing. It’s scary and I don’t have a clue about where the roads go or when to turn hence so far I have driven round in a circle 4 times and drove through a park. But every time I get somewhere even if its eventually after driving the wrong way at least I got there and I always congratulate myself when I do so.
    Good luck.

  15. You can do it!! 🙂 Hey, I’m afraid of driving, too, and I’ve managed to drive around by myself in our big van that takes up most of the lane. If I can do it, you can do it! 🙂 Way to go Claire!!! 🙂

Maps. Maps are your friend. I used to make photocopies of in-town maps, and mark off dots for where things were, until I became more familiar with where they were. And I have a compass in my car.

  18. I have a compass in my car too. It’s really useful. And when I don’t know how to get somewhere I write down the directions in really large font, so that I can easily see them while I’m driving. Don’t worry. Confidence will come with experience. I used to panic when I had to drive alone, and now I drive 500 miles every other weekend, by myself.

  20. A healthy fear (of 5000 pound machines that hurl through space at 120 kilometers per hour) is a good thing.

make sure you check for clowns in the trunk first. cuz clowns suck and you wouldn’t want to scare your mum.
