"While it was still warm and sunny Daisy & Betsy went out to pick flowers and knit themselves pretty daisy chain crowns and necklaces."

"Flowers are such an inspiration to me and I find that I just naturally
incorporate them into
so much that I do. This pincushion has a giant blue flower on top that
reminds me of dahlias. "

"With a summer that only lasts 100 days I like using the bright and happy colors of the garden in my sewing projects to keep me company through the long
winters. My flower garden pincushion is made from wool felt and is decorated with a variety of embroidery stitches."

"Maiyu is a bit of a flower child and loves to frolick and wander among flowers. She has flowers on her dress and an upside down flower serving as a cute little hat!"

Bertha Crowley
Bertha's Journal
"It's a two sided kitty doll! One side is "April Showers" and the other side is "May Flowers"...done in wool felt with hand embroidered details."

Gotta Make
"She is 4 1/4? tall from head to toe. Her skirt, bodice, hair, and antennae are make from silk flower parts, and her wings are feathers. Her body is sewn from a soft peachskin fabric. The pattern is my own."

Linda Madden
Wimpy's One Horse Town
" This perky poodle I made from blue felt. She stands about 8 inches and is 9 inches from nose pompom to tail pompom. Her marigold ear decoration and collar are crocheted from embroidery thread... Her collar is detachable and buttoned on with a little heart. She's loving the May sun on my deck."

"At the beginning of May it is bluebell time here in England. Whole areas of woodland are carpeted in blue and the colours of the new leaves on the trees are lovely. This box is covered in green cotton fabric. I used a variety of techniques for the embroidery set into the lid."

Sandy Remijan

"I have always been intrigued, but intimidated, by the Grandmother's Garden quilt pattern. Making it as a pincushion made it much more manageable. Plus I only used scraps that were left over from other projects and I really need another pincushion, so this worked out really well! "

"I found the entire process very liberating - it was my own design (although it was certainly inspired by various projects), and the cutting and sewing were very free (I didn't have to use a rotary cutter until cutting the borders!)."

"This flower is based on the Matyo Rose, famous in Hungarian folk embroidery. The foundation is picture framers board, covered in stretch faux suede and velvet. The centre of the flower is punch needle emboidery embellished with beads. The stamens are odd and ends of beads threaded onto wire."

"It’s a little smaller than I’m sure Winnie would like, but I think it’ll do the trick. I ended up using stuffing instead of batting, so it’s kinda poofy for the time being, but Winnie likes comfy things, so I went with the “cushier” option. We’ll see if she uses it. If not, I suppose it’s back to the grody green blanket."

Renee Healey
"Little fairies sporting tulip dresses. Initially, I was tempted to make warped flowers with titles like, "Tommy the Tortured Tulip" and "Darryl the Deranged Daisy." Or I had also thought of creating a monster venus flytrap. But these fairies I've been creating a mile a minute for some friends of mine, and I just didn't have the time to create new flowers. Perhaps next month I will tap into my dark side. "

Little Munki
" was almost not going to contribute due to the fact that I had absolutely no idea what to do. And, truth be told, I have been a little pre-occupied with the little munki's first birthday extravaganza. But upon hearing that a friend was going to submit a 'flower' it forced me to crack open the thinking cap! So here she is."

Fiona Dalton
Hop Skip Jump
"This is my submission, a chicken holding a flower. She's a bit twee, but I'm happy with her all the same! She's made from my favourite fabric of the moment: soft soft wool blanketing (I know I've raved about it before, but I really do love this stuff!)."

Joyce Buzzard
Chief Ten Bears
"Yeah yeah it's not soft, rather it is within my realm of keeping my crafting sustainable... always made of recycled/discarded materials."
Link

Sharona Reouveni
"However, during my experiments with creating a black foam mini muppet, I had so many silly mistake (double joints for example) and the muppet looked at me so miserable, I just had to compensate her somehow, and flowers are always a wonderful way to encourage a friend. So there she is, May the May flowers girl."
Link

Sandra Griffith
"Here is my May offering. Because I really like to make practical things - I've made a little 'May Flowers calendar cushion'. The flowers and leaves are little raised softies in themselves. "

"This was a difficult topic for me. I couldn't seem to come up with something I liked until this guy popped into my head. He's made out of craft felt, pipe cleaners (to help him stand up) and glass beads."

"Outra menina flor tão linda que a joaninha quer ser a sua melhor amiga. Também tem um coração de gostar bem quentinho debaixo da rosinha que traz ao peito. Uma fofura."

"What started out as one pink Gerbera pincushion, finished with a red rose and a white pansy. I've always been interested in machine embroidery, yet never really attempted it before. I had fun making these pincushions and I did need a new one, but not three. My current one was given to me by a friend 25 years ago."

"Here is a hat with a FLOWER pin from my Yalta Beach collection. Flowers became a hit in today's fashion all over the world. Yalta is blooming too."

A Bird in the Hand
"I didn't have time to make a soft creature this month, so here's an exceptionally soft wool felt pillow i made that's got a flower on it and the number 5 (May
being the 5th month and all... )"

"I tried and tried to make a sweet flower, but as is my custom my crocheted works get a little twisted. This carnivorous flower is crocheted entirely out of mercenized cotton and comes complete with removable eyeball for good measure."

"ViVi first came to me while i sat in anthro class taking notes...i sketched her out and now she has come to life! ViVi is about 8 inches tall and was hand stitched by moi. her arms, hair & face are acrylic felt and her legs are cotton. her dress comes from some vintage scrap i had in my scrap bag. "

Proving it doesn't need to be February to give flowers."

" I love the creatures they make at Mini Labo. And it seems they only sell them in France, so I decided to make my own version of 'Le Chat Sourit'."

Heather Pudewa

" Her name is Flora... she's a fawn and even though she's a little rough around the edges, she thinks she's is just fabulous. (I'm not
going to tell her any different... While exceptionally cute, fawns are notoriously difficult to reason with!)"

Laurie Bertrand

"She's made of felt with a button eye and stuffed -- but not too much lest she appear bloated! This was a good reason to make a larger version of my small fish pincushion and it was easy to enlarge the simple pattern. She is 7" long x 5"high. Oh, and of course the flowery felt is what helped her to fit in perfectly with MoS's May theme of "Flowers"."

"depois de ver que há mais pessoas "loucas" por aventais como eu, decidi, no month of softies deste mês, fazer um avental com as minhas flores de maio.
este é o meu primeiro avental home made.

"Month of softies project inspired me to try Japanese kanzanshi flowers. They are so fun to make! I like to make bags, so I put some kanzanshi flowers on a bag. I made flower 'stems' with green piping. And the bag is blue like the sky. "

"Well, I don't have a little baby girl, but I was creating a hat for the classes I teach at Pins and Needles and I couldn't resist this Blossom yarn by Trendsetter. One generous ball could make TWO newborn hats, so the $12.50 per ball price doesn't seem all that bad. I want to create another one with a green cotton edging."

"Beaded felt flowers - so easy to make but I got a real thrill looking at
them as I made more - like little jewels to brighten up the cold, wet
autumn downunder. "

"Then I decided to consider Australian May flowers. There isn't much flowering here in May, except some irises which usually flower in July, but this year are muddled by our late winter and drought. But there are a few winter-flowering eucalypt trees, so I started planning a red gumnut flower fairy. I thought the stamens could make a kind of drop skirt, or hat fringe, but in the end decided that I liked the flower just as a flower."

Linda Malie
"Here is a mobile I made out of fabric/paint samples and some
old buttons, popsicle sticks, embroidery thread, and cardboard
from the zillion boxes of Hamburger Helper that my husband
and I eat (bad, bad carb eater, me!). I like hummingbirds and
hummingbirds like flowers, so I thought it was only fitting. It
sits in the sunny corner of our living room and lifts up our spirits
when the May weather outside doesn't match what we see in
our heads."
Link

Small Hands
"My submission is this peony pin cushion. It's much more user-friendly than the regular tomato pin cushion (where the fabric is pulled tight and it's completely stuffed), because it's soft and the pins go it with very little pressure."

"Here are my Wallflowers. It's a wall hanging for a baby's room made with wool and polar fleece. It's very fluffy. Here's to May in the northern hemishere!"

"Miss May Flowers is made from a small wooden clothespin, polymer clay + acrylic felt. Her bonnet saves her from the sun and her embroidered flower dress from nasty stares."
