House mouse
Thursday 28 February 2002

Long time, no squeak. I have been extremely unfocussed and totally uninspired these last few weeks. Unfortunately updating loobylu has been very low on my list of priorities. Life is moving rapidly - all too rapidly to the point where Big-P and I really have to begin to admit to ourselves that we must be adults. The house buying thing has stepped up a notch as we may have found our little patch of paradise in the suburbs.

mmm - tasty real estate

The auction is this Saturday and I have decided already that I am going to stay home and Big-P can go along with my dad. If we miss out it will be a little sad but not the end of the world. I am not entirely 100% sure about this place as it has its definite draw backs. For example, I think you can catch a glimpse of the main freeway from the back deck and you can definitely hear it, the street out the front is quite busy, the kitchen is lacking in bench space and completely without a place to put a fridge or a microwave or anything really... the carpets are smelly and worn and the walls are stained. That being said, it is a very appealing little place... it's almost in it's original 1950s condition with quirky light fittings, window seats and big chunky green fixtures in the bathroom. Some others might be put off by this but we like the quirky romance of it. There are double doors in the lounge room with stylised deer etched into the glass and Bakelite handles and Big-P's favourite feature is the breakfast nook in the kitchen. It has nice light and great floorboards under the floral carpet which are crying out for a good polishing... So there's been talking to banks and brokers and builders (who thought it was a truly excellent house, structurally fantastic) and staring blankly at a set of legal documents not knowing what we should be looking for and panicking that there might not be enough time to organise a solicitor. Now we just have to wait and see.
