So hard to come back to writing this when
so much has happened all over the place.
Big-P and I got married last Saturday week
ago. We had a small, quick ceremony at the Victorian Registry
Office where we repeated the celebrant's words and I still
have no idea what I promised I would do and be...but I must
have said something nice, because I remember crying...this
was followed by drinks at a little bar where Big-P and I had
our first date 5 years ago, and then across the road for a
banquet dinner at the Flower
Drum
in Market Lane.
It was exactly the kind of evening we had
hoped for. Very relaxed and happy and good fun. The food was
incredible, the laughs aplenty, the good feelings abounding.
There was a little tinge of sadness, as we had canceled our
trip to Canada (having to make a hasty, emotion laden decision
a day or two after the terrorist attacks and on the morning
that Ansett collapsed),
but we toasted to Big-P's distant-yet-close family and knew
they would be doing the same on the other side of the world.
Our guests all brought along their cameras
(M's Barbie Polaroid was a particular hit) and played paparazzi
for the evening. Special-K took some fab black and whites.
Follow the icon to my favourite:
Big-P and I had a mini honeymoon at a swanky
hotel in the city... not quite Canada but a nice time all
the same. We played at being Melbourne tourists for a couple
of days, lots of walking, photos, exhibitions (Renoir
to Picasso - an excellent sampling of some modern artists
for the short attention span generation and also the All
the Rage poster exhibition at the State Library which
is free and a must see for local history buffs and graphic
designers), movies (AI at a gold class cinema - glad for the
comfy chair, meant I could take a little nap) and lots (and
lots) of eating out.
Later last week we went down to the
Grampians for a couple of days of nature and views...
lovely wildflowers and plenty of amazing stars. We even got
to visit the home of my favourite olive
oil and will keep in mind their bed and breakfast accommodation
for next time.
So now it's back to reality...
Thank you to those who emailed. Much, much
appreciated!
