Posting pretty pictures

Did I say I wasn’t going to have a tumblelog?
Well, I have a tumblelog – I’ve only been posting to it for a couple of days and eventually I intend to incorporate it into my (brand, spanking, sparkling new) loobylu design in a sidebar or something, but for now you can find it at loobylu.tumblr.com

I’m using it to keep track of lovely images I come across on the web. It’s so easy! I highly recommend the platform for having a play around on.

From wikipedia:

A tumblelog is a variation of a blog that favors short-form, mixed-media posts over the longer editorial posts frequently associated with blogging. Common post formats found on tumblelogs include links, photos, quotes, dialogues, and video. Unlike blogs, tumblelogs are frequently used to share the author’s creations, discoveries, or experiences while providing little or no commentary.

Look, Phil’s got one too! And so does Koo! And so does Rosa! Do you?

oooh I want one! Although I do already tend to blog with pictures and “little or no commentary” – LOL. But what a great way to collect all those great inspirational bits and pieces that fuel our souls.

Lovely blog!I actually clicked through because I thought the name was ‘Looblyu’ which, in russian, means “I love”…

A serendipitous dyslexic moment by me. I think your sketches are lovely.

Tumblr is, like, the greatest way to build your own digital scrapbook. I’ve been doing much the same thing for a few months … off and on.It’s much easier to maintain than a full-blown blog, and I love having all my favorite stuff in one place.

Isn’t that what most crafting blogs are: mixed media with little or no commentary intended to share ideas or creations? It irks me a little that there is a perceived need to maintain multiple web sites to conform to some definition, it’s kind of a pain to have to read more that one site per person. I feel a little cheated that you aren’t sharing those cool links over here. I suppose will continue to tumble along in my own Luddite way on my single site.

Yes, I know what you mean, and I played with the idea of having that kind of content here – but it really seemed to be not what loobylu.com is about. Obviously I will still be sharing wonderful links here, but random images? less so. My intention is to have the rss feed of the tumble log in my sidebar eventually, so it is all here in the one place yet still separated out from the main content.

My response was in no way intended to be a critique of your blogging choices, sorry if it came off that way. I was just giving my visceral response to what I perceive as an unnecessary attempt to create something by definition.

You happened to be the third person who mentioned tumblr to me this morning, so I’m giving it a try. Mine is barely up and running so I haven’t added a whole lot yet. I’d been wanting an easy way to collect random stuff from the internet and already I can tell this is going to work great. I chose the name “push-pins” because it works sorta like an inspiration board.
