Inspirational

Some links to warm and wondrous destinations on a chilly monday morning:
Cloth Fabric
Julie Paterson hand prints her creations onto fabrics such as jute, linen and hemp… my favourite is “rough rose“. The stretch canvas pieces are also amazing and the hand made dolls make me want to pick up that cat-doll project again.

Ben Goss
Artist and illustrator who layers on the acrylics to create beautiful canvases of colour.

Storyopolis
Gasp at the sheer wonder of this store! Now LA has made it to my places-that-I-want-to-visit-one-day list. Big-P and I have found our next anniversary gift at their online store. (thanks to eleanor for pointing this one out)

You know, I was just about to post a link to the Eric Carle Museum as well.
Come visit and Alice and Amelia can go together.

I JUST visited the Storyopolis store a few weeks ago, and really enjoyed seeing childrens book illustrations in the flesh. There were paintings there by Gary Baseman, David Kirk, Seonna Hong, and more! Really cool.

wow, that front page with the strips of woven stuff (julie paterson) just made me think of a richard scarry illustration! weird how these things stick in your mind.. my absolute favourite one was the threading beads one (busy schoolhouse?):)

Oooh! Storypolis is just the place to bring my one year girl to this or next weekend. Too bad Saturday storytime conflicts with her play and gym classes at Gymboree. Thanks for the link!

Storyopolis has waay too much of my hard-earned $$$.
I used to work in an office in the same complex & I literally had to take a different route out of the building to keep myself from wandering in there!

About that so called hearing test – my son has a sever to profound hearing loss, so I am a bit familiar with hearing tests and all. The test being given to Amelia is bunk. Totally worthless. A hearing test in a noisy room? Done by two nurses? If she fails again, don’t fret. Take her to an audiologist. She’ll be tested professionally, and will also be checked for fluid in her ears. And I will tell you right now, if she does have a hearing loss, it’ll be ok. One, you’ll catch it very early, two, my son is in the top high school in NYC and is doing just fine. Having a hearing loss is no longer the stigma is used to be, and hearing aids these days are amazing.
    Good luck!

A different kind of warm and fuzzy:If you haven’t seen the weight watchers recipe cards from 1974 on candyboots.com, treat yourself to 10 minutes of gutbusting laughter.

Everyone should present their food with ceramic leopards or a jar of ashes.
Warning – do not view at work whilst wearing non-waterproof mascara.

Claire, this has to be my favorite re-design you’ve done…I absolutely love the slightly gritty feel of the illustration up top!!

hi! came to ur website thru links.. realli luv the drawings. they are so cute. i like the thick outlines 🙂 cya arnd and take care

  15. kcollins11@nc.rr.com

I just noticed the drawing at the bottom of the page that shows you waving bye, and I’m trying to figure out what this means. Is this your subtle way of telling us that you’re done with Loobylu? Or am I making too much of this? I do notice that you seem less and less interested in this project all the time, which is sad for all us fans.

  16. edie@redheadedgirl.net

i think the waving goodbye graphic is because it’s the end of the page and i think the reason claire hasn’t updated for a while is because she’s having (had) to move on rather short notice. *waits patiently for her to come back* :o)

Thank God! I was starting to worry! Especially since rubhub is down as well.
Can’t wait for your next update…

Hope you had a good vacation.
